Huge thanks to our amazing Teams CEM Regulars and CEM Youth for joining yesterday’s Mabuhay District Bowling Fundraiser!

We didn’t take home the top prize out of 30 teams, but we definitely won in fun, teamwork, and great memories. Cheers to more moments like this! 👏👏👏

HAPPY EARTH DAY (April 22)!!!🌍
Our Power, Our Planet: Act Today, Protect Tomorrow

We’re grateful to our dedicated volunteers, Recycle Everywhere, and the Recycle Everywhere Brand Ambassador team for helping us celebrate Earth Day at Garden City Shopping Centre.

Together, we distributed bin bags and sparked meaningful conversations with kids and adults about the importance of recycling and caring for our environment.

EARTH DAY 2026 CELEBRATION

Caring for our Environment - Manitoba (CEM) is hosting an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 18 alongside Recycle Everywhere and Garden City Shopping Centre!

CEM is looking for volunteers to help out for a short 2‑hour slot. We’ll be handing out Recycle Everywhere bin bags and sharing why Earth Day matters. You can also enjoy a recycling game with prizes from the Recycle Everywhere team.

Not able to volunteer? No worries—come by, say hi, and grab a selfie. Hope to see you there.

Take 2 minutes to get inspired!
Before Earth Hour begins, watch this short video that traces how this global movement started and what simple actions you can take to be part of it.

From switching off your lights to reconnecting with the planet, Earth Hour is a reminder that small steps—taken together—create real impact.

🌍✨ Earth Hour 2026 ✨🌍
Tonight, Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, we switch off the lights and switch on our commitment to the planet.

For one hour, we pause the noise, dim the glow, and remind ourselves that protecting Earth starts with small, intentional choices.

🕯️ One hour. One planet. One future.

Strengthening Winnipeg’s Food Future

On December 9, 2025, CEM presented to the Executive Policy Committee, chaired by Mayor Scott Gillingham, urging stable funding for the Winnipeg Food Council and a long‑term urban agriculture and food security strategy.

We highlighted community‑led successes made possible through the Urban Agriculture and Community Gardens Small Grants Program — including Fireweed Co‑op’s pay‑what‑you‑can veggie van and IRCOM’s balcony gardens — both expanding access to fresh foods for low‑income families and building climate‑resilient neighbourhoods.
