The House of Peace was honoured to participate in the 3rd annual MAWS Symposium. It’s an important opportunity for those doing the hard work in women’s shelters across Manitoba to come together, share, learn and support each other.

Thank you to MAWS for giving House of Peace the opportunity to present a breakout session bringing awareness to gender-based violence in the newcomer women community. In the end, this harsh and disproportionate reality is real for too many women. The geography of where the abuse and exploitation happens shouldn’t matter. Let’s cast our nets wide and help all women who need it.

We are incredibly grateful to the Sons and Daughters of Italy for selecting House of Peace as the recipient of their Community Gifts Fund Match!

At our upcoming annual House of Peace Dinner, they will generously match gifts made that evening up to $10,000. That means your generosity can go twice as far in supporting the mission of House of Peace.

Happy 22nd birthday to the Holy Names House of Peace! It started off as a calling and a brave and daring vision, against all odds. Sister Lesley‘s heart and determination to create a home for marginalized women not only came to life, but has been home to over 200 women over the past 22 years. What a gift it has been to be in the heart of our downtown, to be a refuge and serve our community, and to have helped so many deserving women who are now independent, confident and thriving in this country. Their courage and strength sparked resilience and hope in each other. Thank you for daring to dream this big Sister Lesley. Thank you to the SNJM community, the smartest and most impactful service-driven women I know, and thank you to the many supporters who have so lovingly and generously supported us over the years. We wouldn’t be here without you❤️

House of Peace was privileged to participate in Recovery Day today at The Forks. For many years, the House of Peace was home to many 12-step programs, and to this day, we offer step-5 counselling sessions for those on their recovery journey. It is a part of our mission to the community that we hold very sacred. It brings life and meaning to the work of the House of Peace in our community. We are so deeply inspired by those who work daily on their sobriety by bravely facing their pain and being willing to let a power bigger than themselves come into their heart and fill it with the love that was always there patiently waiting….
