❔Q: Why do women bleed after s*x? Is this normal?
❕A: There are many reasons, let’s dive into them.
🆗Some “ok” why’s (take this with a grain of salt, if in doubt get it checked out!
🩸if it’s your first time having penetrative s*x, you may bleed (or you may not!)
🩸if you are about to start your period, penetrative s*x can make you start your period
🩸hormonal contraception, like an IUD (still get this checked out, it could be an issue with the placement etc.)
⚠️Some “not ok” why’s (please get checked out!)
🩸An anatomical variation like a polyp or a fibroid, causing that bleeding after s*x
🩸Vaginal dryness (shoutout to the menopausal girlies! We see you!) or maybe a skin condition that needs care/treatment like STIs and infections like yeast, or BV.
🩸Cancer
There are many “why’s” to bleeding after s*x, some are severe and others are not. It’s hard to know if it’s serious or not, so it’s a good idea to get it checked out. 🩺

If it’s happening often, it’s not normal. Please get it checked out! If you’re s*xually active, a good place to start is STI testing and/or a Pap smear.
