BACK-TO-SCHOOL: LET’S SUPPORT OUR CHILDREN

September is here—the time of year when children return to school, often with new backpacks, shoes, and school supplies. Unfortunately, not every child will have the opportunity to receive new school essentials because of poverty and other challenges.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, students are also returning to school. However, the reality is very different from what we experience here in Winnipeg. Many parents face difficult choices because of school fees and challenging social and economic circumstances. Some parents may even have to choose which of their children they can afford to send to school.

Together for a Strong World Inc. is calling on community members to look out for families and children in their neighbourhoods who may need help with school supplies. If you can help, please consider supporting a child or family in need.

We also encourage you to support local organizations that work to support families, children, and newcomers in our communities.

Together, we can help build a strong, responsible, and hopeful generation.

HELP US KEEP OUR COMMUNITY WARM IN WINTER ❄️🧤

Winter is just around the corner, and for many newcomers and refugee families, this may be their first winter in Canada.

For families already facing financial challenges, purchasing winter jackets, boots, gloves, hats, and other warm clothing can be difficult.

Together for a Strong World Inc. is launching our Winter Gear Drive to collect warm clothing and winter essentials for individuals and families in need.

Want to make a monetary donation? Yes, you can! Please contact us or donate through our website.

We already have a long list of families waiting for winter gear, and they have started reaching out to us. Your donation could provide the warm coat a child needs to get to school, the boots a parent needs to get to work, or simply help a newcomer feel safe and prepared for their first Canadian winter.

Our Story Must Be Heard

At the 20th International Human Rights Summit, Esther Furaha represented the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a Youth Delegate to the UN in 2026.

This courageous young woman from eastern DRC delivered a powerful message about how the world sees Congo—and the reality women and girls are actually living through.

Our story. Our reality. Our voices. They must be heard.

Women and young girls must never be used as weapons of war. Sexual violence and the exploitation of women and girls in conflict must stop.

Please share this story and amplify her voice, so more people can listen, understand, and stand with the women and girls of the DRC.

🚨 THEY ESCAPED WAR… BUT NOT SUFFERING.

Thousands of Congolese refugees in Burundi are living in extremely difficult conditions.

They have no tents to protect them from the scorching sun, and the rainy season is fast approaching. Many families also face severe shortages of food, limited access to healthcare, and other basic necessities.

According to UNHCR, the humanitarian situation is critical and urgent support is needed.

These refugees fled the ongoing conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, hoping to find safety. Instead, they continue to struggle for survival.

📢 Please share this message so it reaches governments, humanitarian organizations, donors, and everyone who has the power to help. Every voice matters, and every share can make a difference.

Cuts to international humanitarian aid are putting the lives of the world’s most vulnerable people at even greater risk. Refugees should not be forgotten.

Humanity has no borders. Let’s stand together.

Pour de nombreux nouveaux arrivants, la santé mentale demeure un sujet difficile à aborder. Entre les défis de l’immigration, l’éloignement de la famille, les barrières linguistiques et l’adaptation à une nouvelle vie, il est normal de ressentir du stress, de l’anxiété ou un sentiment de solitude. Pourtant, demander de l’aide est une preuve de courage, jamais de faiblesse.

Chez Together for a Strong World Inc. / Ensemble pour un Monde Fort Inc., nous croyons que personne ne devrait traverser ces épreuves seul.

Grâce au soutien de nos précieux partenaires, nous organisons des ateliers éducatifs pour sensibiliser notre communauté à l’importance du bien-être mental et faire connaître les ressources disponibles.

✨ Starting a new life in a new country brings both hope and challenges.

For many newcomers—especially French-speaking immigrants—finding employment, overcoming language barriers, and navigating uncertainty can be overwhelming. Feelings of fear and isolation are real, which is why conversations about mental health are so important.

We are incredibly grateful to our professional counsellors who shared their knowledge and personal immigration experiences with our participants. Having walked a similar path, they understand these challenges firsthand and are giving back by creating safe spaces where newcomers feel heard, supported, and empowered.

Mental health is real, and together we can make a difference by looking after one another—especially the most vulnerable members of our community.

A sincere thank you to Winnipeg Foundation Winnipeg Foundation for supporting this important initiative. We also thank our amazing staff, facilitators, and everyone who participated in making this workshop a success. Together, we are building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities. ❤️
