It was a proud moment for Women of Colour Community Initiatives to be part of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers game this weekend! Our community members had the honour of holding the Canadian BIG flag during the national anthems — a powerful symbol of unity and belonging.

For many of our participants, this was their very first time attending a Canadian football game. Experiencing this iconic Manitoba tradition together was more than just about sports — it was about representation, connection, and inclusion.

Moments like this show how important it is for newcomer and immigrant communities to feel welcomed and seen in every part of Canadian life. We hope this experience inspires more newcomer youth to explore new opportunities, including joining local sports and community programs.

A heartfelt thank you to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for making this experience possible and for celebrating the diversity that makes our community stronger. 💫🏈

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Winnipeg Chinese Community Foundation Fund for their generous support of the 4th Annual Newcomer Welcome Fair.

A heartfelt thank-you also goes out to our dedicated volunteers. Your time, commitment, and passion made this event possible, and we could not have done it without you.

This year, we were honored to welcome the respected knowledge keeper, Clayton Sandy and members of the Indigenous community, who shared tipi teachings and fostered meaningful cultural exchange. Their presence added depth, learning, and connection to this celebration.

We are also deeply appreciative of the tremendous support from the following organizations, community partners, and sponsors:
