Clan Mothers Healing Village and Knowledge Centre is launching their next Youth Carpentry Program for women, trans-women and two-spirit relatives ages 18-29!

Build skills, confidence and your future, learning hands-on carpentry training as you gain real work experience! You will learn from mentors from our very own Mother Earth Construction and industry professionals while being supported by Elders and cultural connections that foster healing and growth!

Yesterday, we spent time on the land harvesting medicine in preparation for our 6th Annual Smudge the North End Community Walk.

A huge thank you to our Knowledge Keeper, Carey Sinclair, and to all the community members who joined us for the day. ❤️

The medicine we harvested will be shared with community members during our walk on September 21, 2026.

There is something special about gathering on the land, learning, sharing, and preparing together. We look forward to carrying that spirit into this year’s Smudge the North End.
We hope to see you there!

SMUDGE THE NORTH END 2026

We invite North End community members, residents, friends, family, and relatives to join us for our 6th Annual Smudge the North End Community Walk.

This is a time for us to come together as a community, walk together, smudge, share stories, connect with one another, and honour the strength and spirit of the North End. ❤️

Drummers are warmly invited to join us and share their songs along the walk.

Everyone is welcome — bring your family, friends, relatives, neighbours, and anyone who would like to walk with us.

Community lunch to follow

The Status Card and ID Program offers free support to renew, replace, or apply for a Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS) Card.

There are benches, but if you want a comfier seat please bring a blanket or chair. Bringing your own offerings of yellow cloth and to***co are also encouraged, there will be a limited quantity available.

Today is the Road to Kindness Healing Walk!
Join Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. at 12 p.m. at Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, 363 McGregor Street, as we walk together to Turtle Island Neighbourhood Centre, 510 King Street.
The walk will be followed by free family activities, including a guest speaker, Friendship Dance, games, face painting, bouncy castles, door prizes, a photobooth, barbecue and more.
Everyone is welcome. Come walk with us and spend the afternoon together!

Something very special is blooming in North Point Douglas!!

You’re warmly invited to join us for a North Point Douglas Community Garden Party on Sunday, August 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, across from Barber House at 99 Euclid Avenue. Come spend the afternoon with neighbours, friends, poets, artists, and community members as we gather in the garden for poetry, music, refreshments, Garden Medicine Teachings, and a beautiful celebration of local creativity and community.

We are especially thrilled to celebrate the official launch of Monarda Press, a new publishing imprint of LITE Winnipeg, along with its very first literary chapbook, You Shine Today (You Are Not Lost). Edited by Winnipeg’s Inaugural Poet Laureate Di Brandt, this special collection showcases poems written by Indigenous and other local women from North Point Douglas and surrounding communities. Featured chapbook poets will be joining us to share their work, making this a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the voices, stories, creativity, and strength rooted right here in our community.
