Wits End

Hello! We've been 'off-line' for a few days as we navigated our move to the new digs, including getting the interweb back up and running. Things have gone incredibly smoothly with the move - just a ton of work. Thanks to so many of your for offers of assistance and especially the few we took up on their offier!

So, back to business....Dec 7th we've got Zachary Lucky playing Sidestage Winnipeg, presented by Wits End and Avalon Arts. The remarkable Vince Andrusko will be opening. 50 days / 50 tickets left, just sayin'

My 9 Albums, Manitoba edition in no particular order. Also, honourable mention for Mark Reeves new album, which wasn't available as a choice on the website.

One of these is an outlier - Ben de la Cour is from Nashville but Shadowlands was recorded in Winnipeg and produced by Scott Nolan. A great sounding album and one of my favourite albums in recent years.

I might have chosen Scott's Silverhill album over Before Tonight but it also wasn't available for selection but no worries, all of Scott's albums are worthy candidates. Similar thought re Madeleine's Nerve, Leaf Rapid's Citizen Alien, Del Barber, and The Small Glories.

Another honourable mention to Sean Burns, who has a whole bunch of albums out. We have the latest but haven't listened to it yet. Why? Because Sean seen Live is SO great! If this list was My 9 Musicians Live, Sean would definitely be on the list.

Finally, there are two Winnipeg bands who, in my humble opinion, need to get their butts into the studio to record new music at a calibre befitting their music: Juvel and the Stanley County Cutups. Both put out EPs several years ago in their early days and both EP's don't live up to the quality they deserve.
