We are counting down the days to our Small Business Luncheon - 2026 on October 22, 2026!

Meet our Speakers over the next couple of days, learn more about each of them, their greatness and expertise, and count down the days with us!
OUR FIRST SPEAKER for the Small Business Luncheon - Kimberly Nelson, CEO of Gateway Resources Inc.

Kim Nelson has been part of the Gateway Resources family for 23 years, growing through a variety of roles before becoming CEO. She loves asking “why,” exploring new ideas, and finding creative solutions that help people and communities thrive.

One of the things Kim enjoys most about her role is building relationships and collaborating with businesses, government partners, and community organizations. She believes that working together creates the best opportunities for meaningful impact.

Outside of work, Kim’s favorite role is being a mom to two young ladies who are passionate about sports. Whether she's in the stands, on the sidelines, or celebrating their successes, she is their biggest cheerleader.

True celebration of Manitoba Direct Support Professionals means fixing the systemic issues threatening the sector.

Low wages and underfunding mean experienced DSP workers are forced to leave the field, causing constant turnover that disrupts the lives of individuals and families who rely on consistent care.

You can't claim to champion accessibility while letting a workforce crisis hollow out the core of community support. This DSP Week, let’s remind everyone why sustainable solutions and fair compensation are needed, so workers can afford to stay in the jobs they love.
