We’re excited to announce our Sandwich Town Walk Audit route!

We’ll start at Food Basics (270 Tecumseh Rd W) and end at the Mackenzie Hall Cultural Centre.

Our walk will take us across Huron Church Rd, then down Felix Ave toward Sandwich.

Want to make it your own adventure?
You can also choose to walk along Huron Church instead. Stroads like this are common in Windsor, so let’s think about how they impact safety, comfort, and community.

Not into walking?
Ride your bike! Plan your ideal biking route and meet us at the destination.

Post-walk, join the group at one of the neighbourhood establishments to chat, share your observations, and grab a bite.

We’re hosting a Walk Audit to better understand what it’s like to move through Sandwich Town and West Windsor by foot, bike, or transit.

Our goal is to learn from the real, lived experience of those who use these streets every day, and to look at how design impacts walkability, transit access, bike safety, and overall comfort in the neighbourhood.

During the audit, we’ll be reflecting on a few key questions. A sample is shared in this post, and you can find the full list on our Windsor-Essex Strong Towns Discord.

Interested in joining the conversation? Send us a DM for the link, or ask a friend to pass it along!

We’ll be sharing the route details very soon, so stay tuned 👀

A Walk Audit (or "Neighborhood Walk") is a simple, powerful way to experience our streets and public spaces together. This will allow us to see what's working well, what's not, and what could make our community even stronger.
Stay tuned here over the next few weeks as we share more about what a walk audit is, our route, and how to participate!

The Windsor police posted on Facebook that the Lauzon pkwy and Tecumseh Rd East intersection is the most dangerous intersection in Windsor.
So far this year there has been 32 reported collisions, 41% of which involve a vehicle turning left.
We'll love to hear what you recommend to make this intersection safer.
