A message from our synodical bishop.

At Trinity, may we give thanks and share our abundance...
Our next clothing giveaway is October 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, you are invited to drop off gently used clothing, as well as canned food, dry food or financial support for Trinity's ministries during those hours (or at the Sunday morning service).
The donated clothing will be collected, sorted and distributed at the November giveaway, while the donated food will supplement Trinity's food pantry and will be combined with other donations destined for Street Help shelter/soup kitchen.
Donations will be accepted at the backdoor to the Fellowship Hall (off the alleyway) during the clothing giveaway.

Being affirming means standing together. Last Spring, Trinity and Pastor Lindsey's congregation worked together to bring a Canadian detained by ICE back to Canada. Trinity stands with Pastor Lindsey and her congregation as they continue their ministry of inclusion and love ... a ministry Trinity offers

We are so thankful for the messages of care, support, and concern we have received from members, friends, congregations, and our Synod this week.

In facing an online attack of our affirming ministry to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community we have only been strengthened in our calling to welcome all in God’s name.

We will continue to serve our community as we have over our last 65 years of ministry. Through love and understanding, welcome and affirmation, care and grace. All the while ensuring everyone who walks through our doors seeking a safe place to explore their faith, find community, and receive care know they are loved, celebrated, and safe at Lutheran Church of the Cross.

So thank you for your love, check-ins, and donations this week! Our congregations ministry has been blessed by your care.

We will continue to welcome all of God’s Queerfully beloved by name.

The pastor at the Lutheran Church at Dell Rapids in the U.S. posted the following. The same guidelines apply to Trinity, as well.

We wanted to make sure everyone is aware of our policy regarding children in church:

If your kids are loud, please still come to church.
If you’re running late because getting everyone out the door was a battle, please still come to church.
If your toddler won’t sit still, please still come to church.
If your baby needs to eat, please still come to church.
If your child asks questions at the least convenient time, please still come to church.
If someone cries, drops a toy, needs a snack, or has to make their third trip to the bathroom, please still come to church.
If your child doesn’t know all the words, all the prayers, or exactly when to sit and stand, please still come to church.
If you feel like you spent the entire service managing your children and heard approximately 12% of the sermon, please still come to church.
If Sunday morning feels messy instead of peaceful, please still come to church.
If you’re worried your children are distracting the people around you, please still come to church.
Because children do not learn how to be part of the Church by staying home until they can sit quietly.
They learn by being here.
They learn the hymns by hearing us sing them.
They learn the prayers by hearing us pray them.
They learn to worship by watching us worship.
They learn that church is home because we make room for them here.
The wiggles, whispers, dropped crayons, crying babies, and little voices are not interruptions to the life of the Church.
They are evidence that the Church is alive.
So bring the babies. Bring the toddlers. Bring the big kids. Come late. Sit in the back. Sit in the front. Step out when you need to and come right back in.
Just come.
Children are not simply the future of the Church. They are part of the Church right now.
