Safety cannot end at the border.

This week, QTMAAWE brought the experiences of q***r and trans migrants in Windsor-Essex to Parliament Hill for 2SLGBTQIA+ Hill Day 2026.

Our team joined advocates from across Canada to call for renewed and expanded federal investment in 2SLGBTQI+ communities — and to make sure q***r and trans migrants are part of that conversation.

We spoke about the need for safe housing, inclusive workplaces, healthcare, economic opportunity, sustainable community funding, and policies shaped by lived experience.

For many q***r and trans migrants, safety is not just about arriving somewhere new. It is about being able to build a life with dignity, stability and belonging.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this advocacy day possible, and we’re returning to Windsor-Essex committed to carrying this work forward. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Happy Le***an Day 🧡🤍🩷

Today is for the le****ns who are out and proud, the ones still in the closet, the ones quietly questioning, the ones finding language for themselves for the first time, and the ones who came to themselves later in life.

It’s for the le****ns who knew early, the le****ns who took years to know, and the le****ns who are still figuring out what feels true.

There is no “right” timeline for becoming yourself. No deadline for understanding your heart. No single way to look, love, dress, speak, or belong.

Wherever you are in your journey, you deserve softness, safety, joy, community, and the freedom to be fully yourself.

Happy Le***an Day to every le***an finding her way home to herself. 💗

This Islamic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating q***r and trans Muslim voices whose stories remind us that faith, q***rness, gender, culture and belonging can exist together.
Through writing, advocacy, community building and visibility, Samra Habib, El-Farouk Khaki and the late Sumaya Dalmar have each helped create more space for q***r and trans Muslims to be seen, heard and understood.
There is room for every part of who we are. 💛

On October 6, QTMAAWE is heading to Parliament Hill in Ottawa to join q***r, trans and allied organizations from across Canada for a Q***r Day of Action.

The campaign is calling on the Government of Canada to renew and expand the Federal 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan and continue investing in q***r and trans communities across the country.

We’re looking forward to being part of this national conversation and bringing the experiences of our community with us to Ottawa. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This past weekend, QTMAA welcomed a newcomer family for an art therapy session centered on creativity, connection, community, and belonging. 🎨💛

Through shared creative experiences, families can make space to connect, express themselves, and build meaningful moments together.

Peace is more than the absence of conflict. It is the presence of safety, dignity, freedom, and belonging. 🕊️

For Black LGBTQ+ migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and newcomers, peace can also mean being able to live without fear, to be seen without judgment, and to find community where identity is not something that has to be hidden.

On this International Day of Peace, QTMAA honours the people, advocates, and communities working every day to build safer, more inclusive spaces where everyone has the opportunity to belong.

Because peace must include all of us. 🌈

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day 💚

Su***de prevention starts with conversation, connection, and making sure people know they do not have to struggle alone.

For q***r and trans migrants, refugees, and newcomers, accessing affirming mental health support can come with added barriers. That’s why community care, culturally responsive support, peer connection, counselling, and crisis services all matter.

Check in on someone. Listen without judgment. Remind people that reaching out for help is okay.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a su***de crisis in Canada, call or text 988. If there is immediate danger, call 911.
