UWindsor Shinerama WHAT IS SHINERAMA? SHINERAMA is a student-led fundraising campaign in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada! Together, we can make CF stand for CURE FOUND!

Each year, over 50 colleges and universities in Canada run fundraisers on their campuses to raise money for cystic fibrosis resarch and care. UWindsor has had a Shinerama campaign for over 10 years, raising thousands of dollars to improve the lives of those living with CF right here in our community. Every year that Shinerama exists, we raise the life expectancy of those living with CF by 10 month

s! WHAT IS CYSTIC FIBROSIS? Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common fatal genetic disease among young Canadians. One in 25 Canadians are carriers of the cystic fibrosis gene, and 1 in every 3500 Canadians has CF. It creates a thick sticky mucus in the body that affects the lung function as well as the digestive system; in the most basic terms. It is a fatal disease, with the current life expectancy just over 51 years old. In the 1960s when Shinerama started, the life expectancy was 4 years old.
