HOPE IN ACTION: Stand with Sudanese Refugee Families in Chad
Nearly two years into the war in Sudan, a staggering one million Sudanese refugees have sought safety in Chad. As a result, creating one of the largest refugee displacements in one of the world's poorest countries. The international response has been insufficient, with only 30% of the Refugee Response Plan in Chad funded in 2024. As a result, Chad faces severe challenges including widespread food insecurity, inadequate shelter, limited access to clean drinking water, insufficient transportation, pervasive poverty, and alarming malnutrition rates. The country's remote landscape, limited access to navigable waterways, and underdeveloped infrastructure exacerbate these challenges, driving up costs and intensifying resource scarcity.
OUR MISSION FOR THIS FUNDRAISER:
The Windsor Sudanese community and ACRT have been working tirelessly to collect donations of clothing, medications, canned foods, and other essential items to bring to their displaced families and communities.
We are reaching out for your support to help raise funds to ship these crucial items to the Sudanese refugees in Chad. The donations will be transported by boat in shipping containers. The cost of the freight is $7,000. Our volunteer group will oversee the shipping of essential items, arriving shortly thereafter to provide relief support to local shelters.
We humbly invite you to join us in extending a helping hand to Sudanese refugees and host communities in Chad. Together, we can bridge distances and bring hope to those who need it most, fostering a spirit of global solidarity and compassion.
