This morning our principal, Mrs. Preston, and our vice principal, Mrs. Boycott, made good on a promise. They told our elementary students that if they reached their Walkathon goal for the school, they would compete in the Silly Olympics. Our students did it, and today was the day!

Mr. Campbell and his three student assistants put together a series of “dangerous activities” so the two could compete for the position of principal of MCA. At least, that’s how he first announced it. It turned out to be an Olympics just for fun. The whole school split into Team Preston and Team Boycott, with cheers, signs, and banners for their favourite principal. And of course, they had to do every event in very silly (and very warm) costumes.

It’s safe to say they don’t get paid enough for this. But when you know you’re called to lead MCA, you end up going far beyond anything in the job description. Mrs. Preston and Mrs. Boycott, thank you for your love, your wisdom, your prayers, and your willingness to show our students the joy of serving God.

Our students had the special opportunity to hear from .jd.johnson, a long track speed skater who represented Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina. Anders is the nephew of Mrs. Winik and our beloved late Mr. Winik.

Anders had a rare day off, and he chose to spend half of it right here with our students. He shared openly about his journey as a professional athlete, the joys, the hard seasons, the setbacks, and the role his faith in Jesus Christ plays through all of it.

Our students listened closely, asked great questions, and walked away encouraged. It’s one thing to hear that faith matters in every part of life. It’s another to hear it from someone who has carried that faith all the way to the Olympic stage.

Then the real fun began! Anders led our elementary students through some speed skating exercises, and the gym was full of laughter, low crouches, and plenty of wobbly strides. We had a lot of fun! Thank you, Anders!

We are so blessed to be part of the body of Christ, surrounded by generous people who choose to pour into our students.

Turkey Cup 2026!

This afternoon our high school students faced off in the Turkey Cup, our first community building event of the year. Grades 9 through 12 are mixed together into four teams this year, and they will compete for points and share weekly devotions together all year long.

Today the soccer field was loud, the competition was real, and Team Purple came out on top. Thanks to a generous donor, the winning team is heading to a Windsor Spitfires game in November!

We thank the Lord for our high school Student Council and Mrs. Siu, who made today happen, and for the leadership of Mrs. Van Rooyen. Watching Grade 9s and Grade 12s cheer each other on is exactly what we hoped these teams would do.

Before the activities, the Cross Country athletes challenged the Volleyball athletes to stand in front of everyone and recite the Bible verse of the week!

God, thank you for our high school!

Our traditional Thanksgiving Chapel happened today, and what a morning it was.

Mrs. Martinez and Mrs. Samuel prepared a wonderful time for all of us. JK and SK parents played on the worship team and shared Bible verses, and our Kindergarten students sang two full songs and recited Psalm 136:1 from memory: “His love endures forever.”

Every class wrote down what they are grateful for, and we added each one to the canvas tree now hanging in our hallway.

God, there are not enough words to express our gratitude for Your sacrifice on the cross, for Your love for us, for Your provision, and for Your faithfulness. We are who we are because of You, Jesus!

Thank you to our teachers and our volunteers that practice and prepared this wonderful Thanksgiving Chapel!

This fall, we said farewell to a much-loved member of our Maranatha family, Mr. David Fuller. For 11 years, he was a familiar face in our hallways, and for 8 of those years his wife, Kerry, served alongside him.

The Fullers came to Maranatha from the mission field overseas, and they brought that heart for missions with them. Mr. Fuller served as an administrator and a teacher, but many of us will remember him for the things he did in between: welcoming international students who were far from home, leading mission teams to Guatemala, and helping our students step onto the stage in drama productions.

Yesterday he came in to spend some time with our staff, and we had the opportunity to honour him. He also shared a few words with our school family:

"Some people are afraid of change, but I have always welcomed it. In times of change, we become more dependent on God and we see growth. Through this time of change, I have found God's faithfulness in Isaiah 40:31. 'But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.' I know that God has big plans for MCA and I look forward to watching as God continues to shape the MCA culture to be a bright lighthouse in Windsor/Essex. Thank you, Maranatha family, for these past 11 years growing and learning together."

We firmly believe that God provides exactly the right people at the right time to help Maranatha carry out its mission. We are thankful that God brought the Fuller family to Maranatha for this season and for the many ways they have served and blessed our students and families.

As Mr. Fuller follows the Lord’s leading into a new season and position, we thank him for faithfully answering God’s call to serve at Maranatha. We pray that God will continue to guide, bless, and use him and his family in this next adventure.

Attention Parents, Grandparents, Alumni, and Friends: join us on Friday, November 6th from 6 to 9 PM at PrimeTime for the MCA Pickleball Classic! We're inviting our MCA community, alumni families, and friends to grab a partner and register as a pair. Spots are limited to 25 pairs, competing across 6 courts, starting with pool play and finishing with bracket finals. We'll close out the night with awards for our top three teams.

What's Included:
- Tournament entry for you and your partner
- A buffet with fruit, veggies, hummus, yogurt, and granola (pizza and drinks will also be available to purchase)
- A fun night with your MCA community, all in support of Maranatha Christian Academy

WE ARE HIRING: SUPPLY STAFF ELEMENTARY EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT

Maranatha Christian Academy is seeking supply staff for the role of Educational Assistant for the 2026/2027 school year to work as a supply in the Elementary division. Preference will be given to those with an Educational Assistant Certification DSW, PSW, or EA Certification. We are looking for applicants who demonstrate a vibrant Christian walk, wish to honour the Lord in the classroom, have a heart for children with special needs.

Interested applicants must have a minimum of a College Diploma. Please submit a cover letter, current resume, three professional references and one Pastor’s reference, along with your completed application form by Friday October 9th, 2026.
