Maryvale Adolescent and Family Services An Adolescent and Children's Mental Health Treatment Centre History

Maryvale has a rich history. It then became the Essex golf and Country Club.

The property was once the estate of Colonel John Prince, after whom Prince Road is named. Following that, in 1929, five Sisters of the Roman Catholic Order of the Good Shepherd established Maryvale in Windsor. Maryvale is now nondenominational. Maryvale was the first residential service for girls in the province of Ontario. In 1984, the admission criteria was broadened and Maryvale opened its firs

t residential program for boys. In December 1993, the 24 hour residential crisis program began, initiated by the Rotary Club of Windsor 1918. In May 2001 the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Bed Program began wherein Windsor Regional hospital beds are operated on the Maryvale site. This program operates in the building known as the rotary Home for Children and Youth.
