ADVOCATE - WEBC's primary function is to advocate for the construction of new cycling trails in Windsor & Essex County. We want to advocate for new areas to ride and identify improvements to existing trail networks. PROMOTE - WEBC is committed to promoting all aspects of local riding in the Windsor region. sm, and economic growth through biking. UNITE - WEBC intends to unite local riders and act as a platform that provides a voice for riders within our riding community. We believe a united riding community has the ability to create awesome change. What makes WEBC Different? WEBC - Windsor Essex Bike Community greatly commends all the individuals and organizations that have helped cycling throughout Windsor Essex in the past! We greatly appreciate their work to improve our local riding scene. However, WEBC has created a new organization that will work towards building on past experiences to help make positive changes for our riding community! So why is WEBC different than trail associations from the past?
1. Mission & Approach: WEBC wants to use a completely inclusive approach to unite all types of cyclists under one body and use one voice to create mutually beneficial partnerships with the City of Windsor and other land managers.
2. Changing the Narrative: WEBC wants to work as a close partner with the City of Windsor and ultimately align its priorities and goals with our organization's plans and projects. This partnership will make positive changes for our riding community. We want to move past the tense past between city officials and riders and work towards a new, exciting, and positive future together.
3. Connections: Our WEBC directors and supporters have deep connections to city officials and parks & recs managers.
4. Use Social Media for our cause: WEBC wants to use social media to spread the awesomeness and joy of riding a bike to people all over Windsor Essex to get people excited to ride bikes and help us improve our riding scene. We want to showcase and capture the joy of riding and share it through exciting media formats.
5. Engaging Riders: WEBC wants to engage local riders like never before! We have and will continue to plan to host events, group rides, and fundraisers to take our riding community to new heights.
6. Involving Smaller Municipalities: WEBC has and will continue to approach smaller municipalities in Essex county on new riding areas and projects. The more wins and successful projects WEBC can be a part of, the more momentum and success our organization will have.
7. Use of Community Partners: WEBC has and will continue to develop community partners that will help promote our cause and provide different types of monetary and foundational support for our organization’s events & projects.
8. Use of local Brand Ambassadors & Professional Media Producers: WEBC has recruited several local brand ambassador athletes to help promote our cause and get people excited about different types of riding! We also began working on an exciting media project to capture how awesome riding is and the benefits it can bring to the community. Please keep in mind this is a registered nonprofit organization made up of committed volunteers who are highly dedicated to WEBC's mission. All we want is to improve riding for everyone!
