Sighting! Two new loons have landed on the lake.
A great reminder from the Federation of Ontario Cottagers' Associations that the high water can swamp the loons' nesting grounds. Please be cautious when boating near the shoreline to prevent the wake from disrupting loon nesting locations.

Did you know that cottagers are amongst the least likely to vote in municipal elections?

As we look ahead to the next municipal election in Haliburton County on October 26th, there is an important opportunity for Grace Lake members to have a meaningful impact.

Many seasonal and part-time residents are not aware that they are eligible to vote, even if they do not live in the area year-round. You (and your spouse) have the right to vote in multiple municipalities where you own property. Your vote is both valid and influential and local decisions made at the municipal level play a significant role in shaping environmental policy, lake health, and community planning.

To check if you're on the list, update your information, and stay in the know on voting times and methods visit: https://vreg.registertovoteon.ca/en/home

To help guide you, we are pleased to share an informative article from The Coalition of Haliburton Lake Associations that outlines how cottagers can participate in the upcoming election:

Have Your Say! 🎤

Haliburton County is currently gathering input from residents and cottagers on how best to communicate municipal information to the public. This is a valuable opportunity to ensure that our perspectives are heard and reflected in decision-making.
