Luke Wallace and david sereda led Voices for Climate Action on a perfect day to come together in community and celebrate Mother Earth. Local Stories:changing Weather, a collaboration between Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team and Frey Roots Museum & Archives will be at the museum until December.

A sea of sewing machines back in service at OSDSS!A letter from Arts &Crafts teacher Lisa Edgar tells the story.
Over the course of a year, the volunteers from the “Owen Sound Repair Cafe” organized by the Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team in partnership with the Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library have fixed, restored and rejuvenated over 33 sewing machines for the Arts & Crafts program this year at OSDSS! Our tired and worn-out sewing machines now have new life, all thanks to Murray, Ann and Steve, all volunteers of the Repair Cafe! So many kids will again be able to learn the basics of sewing and foster other creative projects with our fixed and also donated machines (there can be almost 180 students per year in the Arts & Crafts program!) Thankfully, student’s are still drawn to hands-on skills and creative outlets in this digital age. What dedication to Public Education these volunteers have shown by donating their time and skill - we are so grateful. Spring Special! Kids bicycle repair at this weekend’s Repair Cafe! Saturday May 9 from 1 to 4 at the Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library. Volunteer fixers also on hand to restore lamps, electronics, fans, spring jackets, jewelry, clocks, and more to working order. If you can carry it in and it’s not gasoline powered or a microwave, we’ll do our best to repair. The Repair Cafe is open the second Saturday of every month except August - a joint project of the Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team and the Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library

It’s National Volunteer Appreciation Week! Sending gratitude to the 52 fixers, baristas and receptionists who volunteer to make the Repair Cafe such a positive event each month! More than 600 items have been restored to working order and kept out of landfill. It was only 2,years ago that a group of 26 people came together to launch the first Repair Cafe. Come to the Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library to check it out on the second Saturday of every month (except August). If you’re interested in joining our team, talk to someone at the Reception Table and we’ll get you started on the on-boarding process. Experience with electronics is especially welcome. 💻 The Repair Cafe is a joint project with the Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team and the Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library.

Good news on a rainy day! To help meet Ontario’s growing electricity needs, the IESO has offered contracts to 14 new renewable energy projects. The 12 solar projects and two wind projects will generate more than 3 TWh of supply each year.

From bingo ball machines to unglued jewelry to torn jeans to broken printers, and vintage lamps, our volunteer fixers are ready to keep your treasures out of landfill. It’s the second Saturday of the month and the Repair Cafe will be open from 1 to 4 pm at the Owen Sound North Grey Union Library. Throw it away? NO WAY! Keep your household treasures out of landfill.

A very busy Repair academy on Saturday. Two years!! Huge gratitude to the dozens of volunteers - fixers, greeters, baristas as well as an incredible community committed to reducing waste and revitalizing an amazing variety of treasures. A joint project of the Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team and Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library. Year 3 begins on Saturday April 11. See you there!
