We'koqma'q's Back to School Bash is coming up on August 30, 2026 at the Ballfield! Join us for an afternoon of fun with Bouncerama, BBQ, snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, and school bag giveaway. Students in Grades K3 to 8 can receive a school bag, while Grade 9 students will receive a gift card.

Back to School Haircuts
Free Back-to-School Haircuts will be available at the Backroom Community Hall on September 1 and September 3, 2026.
A sensory-friendly time will be offered on September 1 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The Mi'kmaq Employment Training Secretariat (METS) is offering a certified Heat Pump Cleaning & Maintenance Training Program through E360 Institute / LMMW Group Ltd.

We'koqma'q Training Date: Wednesday, September 23, 2026

Participants will learn:
• Heat pump operation and safety
• Cleaning filters, grills, and coils
• Outdoor unit maintenance
• Troubleshooting common issues
• When to refer work to a technician
• Business opportunities in heat pump maintenance

The training can accommodate up to 30 participants. To register please contact Patty Bernard or Blaire Poulette at the Band Office.

SECOND CALL-OUT – EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR BAND MEMBERSHIP

We’koqma’q L’nue’kati is inviting community members who are not currently Band Members and are interested in becoming Band Members of We’koqma’q L’nue’kati to submit an Expression of Interest.

Please Note:

This call-out is intended for individuals who are part of the We’koqma’q community but are currently registered under another First Nation/Band and wish to explore transferring their membership to We’koqma’q L’nue’kati.

Individuals who become Band Members through this process will not be entitled to any past land claim settlement distributions or financial compensation that were distributed prior to becoming a Band Member.
