On June 4th, 2026, FASSY, along with many other non-profit organizations, gathered at the KDCC to endorse the newest community plan to end homelessness.

"A Place to Be: Community Action to End Homelessness" takes into consideration the many ways housing is inaccessible for so many of our members and offers community-based solutions. This is not a political issue; this is a human need that can no longer be ignored.

Congratulations to Jack Bogaard on receiving the inaugural Jack Bogaard award which recognizes the commitment and heart it takes to support our most vulnerable community members.

FASSY has looked different at certain periods of our 30-year history. The one thing that has remained constant is our desire to raise awareness and educate everyone in our community - those directly impacted by PAE/FASD and those who have never heard of it!

One week ago, FASSY finished with our first cohort of learner for the "FASD for Frontline Workers" Course. Service providers gathers once a week for a 5-days of intense training on FASD delivered through Yukon University in collaboration with the Yukon FASD Interagency Committee.

Throughout the training, participants explored person-first and strengths-based practice, trauma-informed support, understanding stigma and the important role it plays in the FASD context, support needs, practical frontline tools and strategies, relationship-centered approaches, expectation matching and environmental fit, advocacy, collaboration, and shared reflection.

What made this training especially meaningful was the openness, honesty, and willingness of participants to learn from one another. The discussions, activities, reflections, and shared experiences highlighted how important understanding, relationships, and practical support are in frontline work.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, reflected, shared their experiences, and contributed to such a thoughtful learning environment.

We are excited to continue building opportunities for practical, community-centered FASD learning and dialogue across the North.

New year, new sessions! 💚

Join our January drop-in sexual health sessions, designed for anyone in the FASD community.

This month we're going to be talking about what sexual health is and why it matters.

Come meet and chat with our FASD-Informed Sexual Health Educator, Maddi.

During the longer info sessions, Maddi will be going over more of a set lesson, which should last about 1-1.5 hours. She will repeat the lesson a few times while there, so don't worry if you're not there right when it starts.
