Thirty Years of FASSY: A Story of Support and Belonging — Part 2 💚

What We Heard: Key Findings from FASSY’s 30th Anniversary Storytelling Project

FASSY members and staff reflected on their experiences with the organization, how FASSY has changed over time, and what its support has meant to them.
Across the interviews, the key findings highlight the importance of relationships, support that works alongside people, and support that is flexible, individualized, and provided at the person’s own pace.
The findings also show how FASSY can become a place that feels like home and a place of belonging. Members described the importance of having a space where they feel understood, welcome, and connected to others.
In addition, Participants spoke about holding onto what matters while building capacity, including maintaining relationships and accessibility, staying available and reliable as FASSY grows, and creating more opportunities for community participation. They also identified needs such as greater staffing and outreach capacity, dedicated research and evaluation capacity, and housing options for families.
