Ever wanted to build a real piece of furniture with your own hands? This is your chance.

Our new Maker Academy, Choose Your Own Woodworking Adventure, lets you pick one of four projects and build it from start to finish: a piano bench, a Shaker-style side table in cherry, a small cabinet, or a pine bedside chest of drawers. Long-time woodworkers Murray Long and Grant Sullivan will guide you through every step, from design and cutting to joinery with pocket screws, biscuits and dowels. Along the way you’ll get hands-on with the table saw, mitre saw, jointer, planer, router, drill press and more.

We kick off on Tuesday, November 3rd, followed by four Sunday sessions from 9am to 12pm on November 15th to December 6th. Your ticket covers materials, instruction, shop use and a full month of 24/7 Makespace membership so you can keep building between sessions. Halloween lovers, this one’s for you 🎃

This weekend, Young Maker Club is hosting a two-day SFX and prosthetics intensive with Special Effects Makeup Artist Ammanda Partridge!

Youth ages 12 to 18 will design and sculpt their own prosthetic pieces, mold and cast them in silicone, match skin tones, and learn how fake blood is rigged for film and theatre.

Join us Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18 from 10am to 3:30pm at the Yukonstruct Makespace.

Whitehorse youth! Build new skills and make cool projects with us this fall!

Get ready for Halloween with a Special FX makeup workshop! Brighten up winter using a candlestick you made yourself! 3D print fidget toys to sooth your busy hands! Make yourself a piece of wood furniture! Sew a pouch to keep your stuff! Weld a cool metal decoration for your room!

Join us for Power Up, YWITT’s after-school program. Each Monday for six weeks, come learn about different trades and technology hobbies and careers, build skills and make cool projects to take home with you.

This program is for high-school-aged girls, non-binary and trans youth. Maximum of 10 participants.

Mondays, 3:30 - 6pm, October 26 - Nov 30, 2026.

Participation is free or by donation, and snacks will be provided.

Ever wondered how film and TV artists create creatures, wounds, and gore that look absolutely real? This Halloween season, you can learn to do it yourself. 🩸🎃

Join special effects makeup artist Ammanda Partridge at Yukonstruct for a 2-day SFX and Prosthetics intensive. Over the weekend you'll design and sculpt your own prosthetic piece, mold and cast it in silicone, paint and match it to skin tones, and apply it like a pro. You'll also learn the secrets of blood rigging and fake blood application.

Ammanda brings 24 years of experience as an esthetician and makeup artist. She owns Elements Hair and Spa and is Academy President at Yukon's Esthetics School, so you're learning from one of the best in the North.

As we carry the reflections of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation beyond September 30, we’re reminded of the importance of learning about Yukon First Nations’ agreements and supporting their economic priorities.

Chapter 22 of the Yukon Umbrella Final Agreement outlines objectives around economic participation, self-reliance and benefits arising from Settlement Agreements for Yukon First Nations people. For Yukonstruct, this is an opportunity to keep reflecting on how our entrepreneurship support can contribute to accessible opportunities, respectful relationships and community-led goals.
