🌱 Seven seasons of growing together! 🌱

This year marked the seventh season of hands-on gardening at the newly-dedicated Dianne Kim Nolan Memorial Garden. Over 15 weeks, participants from Voices Influencing Change took the garden from soil prep all the way to harvest, learning to seed, plant, w**d, harvest, and preserve their own vegetables and herbs.

A few highlights from this season:
🥕 Our widest variety of crops yet, including an upgraded medicinal bed
👩‍🌾 A former participant stepped into the role of garden coordinator, supported by a master gardener, bringing powerful peer mentorship to the program
🍎Two new apple trees were added this season

This program creates space for members to grow their own food, build confidence, and connect with community. Once again, we saw that the magic happens when skill-building and social connection go hand in hand.

Thank you to everyone who dug in with us this year! 💚

Special thanks to Fritz Andre for the photos and to our funders for making this possible: Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, Love2Thrift, Whitehorse Community Thrift Store (SOS Fund), Food Literacy Fund and the Community Climate Transitions Innovation Fund.

Building a stronger homelessness-serving sector takes learning, collaboration and shared approaches. In August, workers from across the Yukon came together for training on Housing & Recovery-Focused Thinking and Trauma-Informed Practice.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, travelled from communities, and brought their experiences, perspectives and questions to the conversation. And a special thank you to the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness and Quinn Moerike for leading three great days of learning and discussion.

We’re looking forward to continuing this work together!

Happy 30th Anniversary, YAPC!

We’re grateful to have spent a celebratory afternoon with so many supporters, friends and community members.

Big thanks to all of the awesome volunteers who made the community BBQ a success and to the Yukon Foundation for supporting the 30th anniversary project!

📸 YAPC board members Charlotte Hrenchuk and Michael Dougherty cut the cake.
