Yukon Land Use Planning Council

Yukon Land Use Planning Council We help Government, Yukon First Nations and Regional Planning Commissions coordinate their efforts to conduct regional land use planning.

The Yukon Land Use Planning Council helps Government, Yukon First Nations and Regional Planning Commissions coordinate their efforts to conduct regional land use planning. This planning is necessary to resolve land use and resource conflicts within Yukon's regions. The plans ensure that use of lands and resources is consistent with social, cultural, economic and environmental values. These plans w

ill build upon the traditional knowledge and experience of the residents of each region. Regional land use plans make recommendations for the use of land, water and other renewable and non-renewable resources. Governments and First Nations must adhere to these regional plans when authorizing use of land and resources. Whether you are a prospector or a planner, we hope you will find useful information on our website about land use planning in the North. We encourage you to click the "Learn more" button above.

Their recommendations honour Traditional Knowledge and ways of knowing and relate to both the planning process and the plans themselves.
