We are a group who enjoys working with and learning about fibres. We are a group who enjoy working and learning about fibers.

The purpose of the guild is to support members in increasing their skills and to provide support and education to the public regarding the fibre arts. Our interests are diverse and include knitting, spinning, weaving, dyeing and felting, to name a few. Our mandate is to support members in increasing their skills and to provide support and education to the public regarding the fiber arts. We also c

oordinate the annual Cranberry Fair. The Northern Fibers Guild Meets on the second Tuesday of each month (excluding June, July, August), 7pm at B2-302 Steele Street in downtown Whitehorse (unless specified otherwise).

Some of our members recently got together to naturally dye silk and wool. The results were beautiful!

We’re at Arts in the Park all week over the lunch hours, doing demos and teaching some simple projects. Today, because of the weather, we are inside at the Old Firehall. We’re there until 1 pm if you’d like to stop by.

We will be at Arts in the Park in downtown Whitehorse all week, starting on Monday. Join us between noon and 1 pm. There’ll be artist demonstrations plus you’ll have a chance to learn how to quickly felt wool in a baggie and how to make pompoms!

One of members, Janet Patterson, has work in a show that’s on this month at Arts Underground in Whitehorse. For this exhibit, called “Mid-Winter’s Dreaming”, Janet has created pieces based on reoccurring dreams she has had over the years. The show is on until the end of this month.
