Tagish Nation Dancers

Tagish Nation Dancers Through our songs and dances we share our Tagish and Tlingit. We are new born babies, children, youth, adults, and elders. We hope to make you proud.

Our group started in 1973 by Clara Schinkel and Angela Sidney at the elementary school in Carcross, Yukon; as a program to bridge the gap between education and culture within our community. Aunties, uncles, cousins, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, grandparents...we are 5 generations of family. Our group has traveled the world to shore our spirits with others. Representing inland Tlingit, Tagi

sh and a bit of Northern Totchone tradition and story telling from the Yukon Territory with our songs and dances. There are anywhere from 10 to 50 members at a given performance. Our group all got started in the 1970’s from our beloved ancestors Clara Schinkle, Angela Sidney, and Dorris McLean to bridge the gap between education and our own culture. We have come a long way since and have far to go yet. Ixsixan and gunalcheesh!
