YCS Guided Hikes See the human and natural history of Miles Canyon and Canyon City come to life before your eyes - explore and learn with our interpreters! Two hours.

Join us on a free guided hike through Miles Canyon to Canyon City! Our guides will be running two hikes daily all summer (Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 10 AM and 2 PM, June 7 to August 14). Meet at the pedestrian suspension bridge below the Miles Canyon parking lot. The two-hour, easy walking hikes are fun for nature enthusiasts, hikers and families alike. Nations history, geology, plants, animals, and more! The hikes will run rain or shine. Difficulty: Easy, but on uneven terrain; Approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) round trip. Visit yukonconservation.ca or call 867-668-5678 x 1 to learn more about themed hikes and events. DIRECTIONS FROM DOWNTOWN WHITEHORSE:

SOUTH on Robert Service Way and go past the campground, the ball diamonds
and the railway track crossing
LEFT onto Miles Canyon Road
FOLLOW Miles Canyon Road past the floatplanes, up a big steep slope, down a
little one, then up a little slope, past a lookout and down again
LEFT into Miles Canyon Parking Lot (if you start going up a third steep hill and end
up at the Alaska Highway you've gone too far). DIRECTIONS FROM ALASKA HWY (IF YOU'RE HEADING NORTH FROM THE CARCROSS CUTOFF):

Go past the Pioneer RV Park and turn RIGHT onto the Miles Canyon Road
If you're heading north on the Alaska Hwy and you go past the Mountain Ridge RV Park you've gone too far
Turn RIGHT into the Miles Canyon Parking Lot (the right turn is at the bottom of the steep hill. If you go up a hill you've gone too far).

Our Story

Our free guided hikes are up and running! Come join us on a free guided tour through Kwanlin/Miles Canyon to Canyon City. We run these free tour every Tuesday - Saturday throughout the summer, at 10 AM and at 2 PM. We meet at the Miles Canyon bridge on the parking lot side. The two-hour, easy walking hikes are fun for nature enthusiasts, hikers and families alike. Learn about the Gold Rush, First Nations history, geology, plants, animals, and more! The hikes will run rain or shine. Difficulty: Easy; Approximately 3.5 kilometers (2.1 miles) round trip. Two hours. Kids' Ed-Ventures can be booked for groups during the week. Call or email to book your group in for an educational and fun session at Miles Canyon, Rotary or Shipyards Park, or another downtown location. We're also at the Fireweed Community Market every Thursday, 3-7pm, Shipyards Park, Whitehorse, with fun nature activities and crafts for kids.
