Bringing her unique experience to Whitehorse, and offering a workshop that has been a lifetime in the making, Nova Scotian goldsmith Allyson Simmie will teach participants to use the goldsmith’s suite of tools for shaping various metals into support and decorative pieces.

Over the course of an entire day, participants will learn the use of a goldsmith’s suite of tools to be able to shape various metals into the support and decorative pieces needed to complete their vision. Whether it is for the findings behind your next set of earrings, the chain for a perfect pendant, or for further development towards producing rings and bracelets, this is truly a valuable step for artists of any background.

If you've ever wanted to create your own earring findings, pendant chains, clasps, ring components, or custom metal elements, this is your opportunity.

Join accomplished goldsmith Allyson Simmie for an immersive, hands-on workshop designed specifically for Indigenous artists. Working in a small group of just 6–8 participants, you'll gain practical goldsmithing skills while learning to confidently use professional tools to shape and fabricate metal components for your own work.

Whether you're an emerging artist or looking to expand your jewellery practice, these foundational techniques can open up new creative possibilities and reduce your reliance on pre-made findings.
