I was lucky enough to be back at Relay for Life this past weekend. Even though we had a slight turn of events in location it all worked out for the best as we avoided the nasty storm then!

Our first indoor event had many bonuses ~ we were not out in the extreme heat, we were safe from the poor air quality, we were dry from the evening storm!

As Alberta, along with many other regions across Canada, is currently experiencing wildfire activity that is severely affecting our local air quality we have decided to relocate the Whitecourt Relay for Life from Rotary Park to the Scott Safety Centre - Whitecourt Twin Arena – Athabasca.

The Canadian Cancer Society has worked closely with our Relay For Life Volunteer Committee as the safety and well-being of all participants, volunteers and staff remains our top priority.

Although the event will be indoors, we will closely monitor all attendees for any signs and symptoms of illness caused by the smoky conditions and will respond accordingly.

Registration opens at 5pm

Relay 6pm to midnight

Luminaries at 9:30pm

Relay For Life is a chance to celebrate those we love who have been impacted by cancer and remember those who helped us along our paths to become the people we are today. 💛

Every year, we honour the Participants of Hope—people who are either living with cancer, cancer survivors or are carrying a genetic risk for the disease. They walk to inspire others in their community and remember others that helped on their own journeys.
