Last week, we had the pleasure of hearing from Jamie Sutton from the Town of Whitecourt, who shared an update on our Rotary Summer Totally Unplugged Program and Rotary 2.0 Adventure Camp!

These programs give local kids and youth opportunities to get outside, stay active, make new friends, and build confidence through exciting activities, including outdoor adventures, sports, crafts, scavenger hunts, science experiments, and team-building challenges.

We're proud to support programs that encourage our community's young people to unplug from their screens, get involved, and make the most of their summer! ☀️

A big thank you to Jamie and the Town of Whitecourt for their partnership in helping make these programs a success. Together, we're making a positive difference in the lives of local kids and families!

A big thank you to our guest speaker, Charity Vollmann! 👏

Charity joined us to share more about CAREERS: The Next Generation, a non-profit organization that works with schools and employers to connect students with opportunities for paid internships and hands-on work experience.

Programs like this help students gain valuable skills and experience while giving local employers an opportunity to invest in the next generation of our workforce.

Thanks for joining us, Charity, and for sharing more about the important work CAREERS is doing in our community! 🙌

We will always remember Dolly Parton, whose life was defined not only by music and storytelling, but by an enduring commitment to helping children discover the joy of books.

In 1995, Dolly founded the Imagination Library through The Dollywood Foundation, beginning with a simple but powerful idea: give children access to high-quality books, regardless of their family’s income. To date, the program has gifted over 300 million books worldwide.

For those of us who believe in the transformative power of libraries, Dolly’s legacy is especially meaningful. She understood that a book can open a door to imagination, opportunity, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning. Thank you, Dolly, for helping generations of children dream bigger. ❤️📚

📚 Literacy is one of Rotary’s core areas of focus because we know that a love of reading can change a child’s future.

The Rotary Club of Whitecourt is proud to provide a $4,000 donation to the Whitecourt Library to help foster an early love of reading in children throughout our community. By supporting literacy programs and resources, we’re investing in stronger learners, stronger families, and a stronger future for Whitecourt.

This contribution would not be possible without the incredible support of our community, our Lobsterfest sponsors, and everyone who supports Rotary projects throughout the year.

When you support the Rotary Club of Whitecourt, you support our entire community. Thank you for helping us make a lasting difference, one page at a time. ❤️📖
