The 29th Annual OPFFA Convention is underway in Kingston!
Today, delegates from across Ontario come together to connect, collaborate, and shape the future of our Association. OPFFA President Greg Horton officially opens the 29th Annual Convention.

This week, members of the Whitby Professional Fire Fighters’ Association Executive are attending the annual convention of the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association in Kingston.

The convention brings together Association leaders from across Ontario to conduct the business of the OPFFA, debate and vote on resolutions, discuss issues affecting our profession, and help shape the direction of the OPFFA for the future.

Our Executive is proud to represent Local 2036, advocate on behalf of our members, and ensure the voice of our members is heard on matters that impact both our membership and the fire service across the province.

We look forward to a productive week working alongside our brothers and sisters from across Ontario.

We honour Constable Marc Pinizzotto of the Toronto Police Service and his service during this unimaginable time. We stand alongside our fellow first responders in mourning this tragic loss.

Our deepest condolences are with his family, friends, colleagues, and all those affected. His service and sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace Constable Marc Pinizzotto.

Thank you to the Town of Whitby for inviting members of Local 2036 to attend and speak at this year’s Staff Pride Fest!

Pride is about building communities where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to be themselves, and events like this play an important role in making that possible.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside our community, celebrate inclusion, and support LGBTQIA+ members in our workplace and in our community.

Congratulations to the four IAFF members taking part in the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference.

Best of luck to Winnipeg President Nick Kasper, Alberta President Elliott Davis, Toronto Executive Officer Ryan Grech, and Whitby Professional Fire Fighters Association Vice President Josh Girard as they represent the fire service at this prestigious leadership program.

This is an incredible opportunity to engage with leaders from across Canada and continue advancing leadership within the fire service and our communities.

Professional firefighters continue to lead both on and off the job, and we are proud to see IAFF members represented at this level.
