~ A Rhythm of Rest ~
This weekend we’ll be continuing with our rhythm of rest and won’t be gathering Sunday morning.
One of the things we’ve been trying to recover as a community is the understanding that rest isn’t something we earn once everything is finished. If that were the case, most of us would probably never truly rest.
Rest is actually an act of trust.
It’s a reminder that the world continues turning without our constant effort and attention. That our value is not rooted in how productive, efficient, useful, or available we can be. And that God isn’t just present with us in our doing, but also in our slowing down.
In many ways, choosing rest in a culture that constantly pushes for more can feel almost unnatural. We’re formed to believe that if we stop moving, responding, producing, or achieving, we might fall behind somehow. But from the beginning, the story of Scripture has included rhythms of rest woven directly into creation itself.
Not because rest is weakness.
But because rest helps remind us what it means to be human.
So this long weekend, rather than seeing rest as time “off” from what matters, maybe it can become space to pay attention to what matters most.
To share a meal slowly.
To sit outside.
To notice your neighbours.
To laugh with friends.
To breathe deeply.
To remember that God is already at work in the world, and we were never meant to carry it all on our own.
We’re thankful for each one of you and the ways you continue journeying with us. We hope this weekend creates space for renewal, connection, and rest in whatever way you need most right now.
We’ll be back together Sunday, May 24th at the Brooklin Community Centre and would love to see you then.
