What a fantastic night with our Whitby Sunrisers having some good old-fashioned Fun on the Farm!

A HUGE thank you to Andrew and Libby Wood for opening up their beautiful farm and giving us such a fun evening together!

🚜 A hayride around the farm
🌅 A gorgeous sunset
🍔 Tasty burgers and fresh corn on the cob
🔥 A warm campfire
🍫 And of course… S’MORES to top off the night!

December 1st is World AIDS Day, a day to raise awareness, remember those we’ve lost, and stand together in support of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Each year, under the incredible leadership of our very own Debbie Morgan, the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise helps turn downtown Whitby RED by placing beautiful red scarves throughout our community for the day on December 1st.

And this year, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are looking for people who would be willing to knit red scarves for this very special initiative! Whether you’re an experienced knitter or simply love helping your community, we’d love to have you join us. The sizing for the scarf must be 6 inches by 60 inches.

Every scarf helps us spread awareness, compassion, inclusion and hope — and together, we can make an incredible visual impact throughout downtown Whitby.

So grab those knitting needles and some RED yarn and help us paint the town RED this December!

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise joins Canadians across the country in taking time to listen, learn, reflect and remember.

We honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the generations of Indigenous Peoples who continue to be impacted by this painful history.

Today is more than wearing orange. It is an opportunity to deepen our understanding, have meaningful conversations, and recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires all of us.

Some of our Whitby Sunrisers took part in the Rotary Foundation Walk this past weekend, joining Rotarians from across District 7070 for a wonderful day of walking, mingling, laughter and friendship — all while raising funds to support the incredible work of The Rotary Foundation!

This year’s walk was held in honour of Ann Scott, making the day even more meaningful.

And there was more exciting news! District Grants were presented at the walk, and Whitby Sunrise was thrilled to receive grants supporting TWO of our international projects — our Laos Project and our Dominican Republic Project

We are so grateful for the support that helps us continue making a difference both here at home and around the world.

Today, Whitby Sunrise Rotary Club was honoured to receive an Appreciation Award from the Muslim Welfare Centre, recognizing 20 years of commitment, collaboration, and service to our community!

And we couldn’t be prouder that the award was presented to three absolute stars of our club — Bob Jarvest, Debbie Morgan, and Blair Buchanan!

For 20 years, our club, alongside of the Muslim Welfare Centre has worked proving just how much can happen when community partners come together with a shared purpose.

We love this kind of teamwork — working together, supporting one another, and continuing to make our community stronger.

Such a nice thank you to our club from the The Denise House

Thank you, Whitby Sunrise Rotary Club!

We are incredibly grateful for their generous $5,000 donation to The Denise House!

We were honoured to attend their meeting this last Wednesday to accept this wonderful gift and share a little about the work we do to support women and children experiencing gender-based violence in Durham Region.

What makes this gift especially meaningful is that it provides operational support helping us keep our 24/7 emergency shelter and essential support services running every day.

From providing a safe place to stay, food and basic necessities, to crisis support, trauma informed counselling, safety planning, children's programming and community outreach, there are countless day-to-day costs involved in ensuring that when someone reaches out for help, we are there.

Your generosity helps make that possible. More importantly, it helps us continue creating a place where women and children can begin to heal, rebuild and look toward a future of their choice.

Thank you to the Whitby Sunrise Rotary Club for believing in our work and investing in the safety and well-being of women and children in our community. We are so grateful for your continued support!

Together, we can remind every woman who reaches out: You are not alone.
