With Heavy hearts, we send our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Carolyn

On Thursday, July 13th, our dear friend and colleague, Carolyn Kinzie passed away peacefully with her beloved family at her side, after a courageous battle against cancer. Carolyn leaves behind her loving husband Gord of 35 years, daughter Jessica, son Ryan and his wife Sydney, and her ever-present dog Carley.

Carolyn worked at Ontario Shores for over 35 years, primarily in geriatrics. Her warmth and kind spirit were noticed by anyone who interacted with her. Carolyn was one of those very rare people who have something truly special about them. A kind of radiance that was present everywhere she went. It drew people to her, and she was adored by everyone, and it gave her the innate ability to easily connect with even the most difficult patients and quickly form a bond. Carolyn was an exemplary nurse whose empathy, compassion and skills made her an invaluable team member.

Carolyn was affectionately known as "our Martha" in reference to Martha Stewart, because of her love of cooking, baking, decorating and gardening. She often baked the most delicious treats and brought them in for her friends and co-workers. Whatever she was doing, whether it was nursing or one of her many hobbies, Carolyn always set the bar high and refused to settle for less. She will be deeply missed.

It is with heavy hearts we share with you the passing of our dear colleague, advocate, and friend Mary Bloomfield who left us all too soon.

Our beloved friend was not just our co-worker; she was an advocate for justice, a champion for those whose voices could not be heard. Mary shone with her devotion to the best interests of others with her passion and energy driven to making the world a better place.

Mary was a shining star. She possessed an incredible work ethic in both her nursing and union work, leading by example and never shying away from challenges. Her dedication and skills were unmatched and pushed us all to be better versions of ourselves. Mary was team player, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer words of encouragement. She was a strong Union Representative, advocate and Health and Safety Co-Chair for many years supporting members, the Executive Team and OPSEU in many aspects of labour relations, social justice rallies, health safety at the workplace and within the OPSEU Mental Health Division.

To know Mary was to know she was not limited to her RPN Role and Union Roles; she was a confidant, a mentor, and a source of unwavering support. She was an amazing mother whose eyes beamed when she spoke of her loved ones. For all of us, she listened without judgment, offered guidance without hesitation, and always knew how to bring a smile to our faces even on the darkest of days. Her kindness, compassion, and empathy were boundless, and they showed us the true meaning of friendship.

Mary you will be missed beyond measure, you have left us a treasure box full of memories and touching our lives with a reminder that every moment is precious. May your memory inspire us to mirror the dedication and compassion you lived to make the world a better place. Rest in peace beautiful friend.

Our deepest sympathies are sent to her daughters, her grandchildren and to the many people who will miss her dearly.
