Hockey season = WickFest season!

Thank you to Hayley and the WickFest team for having us be part of the festivities in Milton. It is so special for us to see thousands of young female players get the opportunity to create unforgettable memories with their teammates all while being inspired by one of the best to ever do it 🇨🇦

We loved being there and chatting with everyone who stopped by to learn more about Grindstone and to lend their support!

See you at the next one 🏒🥅

Today is International Day of the Girl Child. This year's global theme is "End child marriage and invest in girls' rights." Every girl deserves the freedom to learn, to grow, and to shape her own future. At the Grindstone Award Foundation, we are proud to celebrate the girls who work hard and lead with courage, and we stand with girls everywhere 💖

Falling Leaves and Flying Pucks 🍂

As we settle into fall, this time of year offers a gentle reminder to slow down and appreciate the beauty around us. At Grindstone, we hope you bring that same sense of wonder into your hockey season.

Take in the sights, sounds, and familiar smells of your hometown rink. Embrace the people who make practice meaningful, recognize those who make it possible for you to pursue your passion, and celebrate every win – big or small – along the way.

Whether you have played for years or are stepping onto the ice for the first time, every shift counts, every teammate matters, and every day is an opportunity to grow. Let’s carry grit and gratitude into every moment. Here’s to a season filled with colourful memories.

September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a time to remember the children who never returned home and to honour Survivors and their families.

Reconciliation is rooted in the courage to listen, the humility to acknowledge past and ongoing harms, and an unwavering commitment to upholding the truth while confronting denialism in all its forms.

Grindstone Award Foundation stands in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples today and every day, committed to the ongoing work of truth-telling and meaningful reconciliation.
