Update on Sea to Sky Skijoring

Well… we tried. ❄️🐎🔥

And I won’t lie — I’m disappointed.

We had momentum.

So much excitement.

So many conversations happening behind the scenes.

We chased every snow window and venue option we could… and each one came so close.

But close doesn’t build a safe course.

So instead of forcing it, we’re doing this properly.

✨ January 2027 — it’s on. ✨

The dream of bringing skijoring back as a wild, community-fuelled fundraiser for Amazing Kids Foundation is alive and well. This year was about learning, building relationships, and feeling out what it truly takes to pull off something this unique in the Sea to Sky.

And let me tell you — the stoke is real.

This is going to be one of those events where:

– costumes are outrageous

– the energy is high

– the crowd is roaring

– and the whole thing feels like the mountain town magic we all crave

We’re working toward announcing a location late spring, and we’re building it with intention so when it happens… it lands.

Kate is the woman quietly (and sometimes not so quietly 😉) behind this movement — the emails, the meetings, the spreadsheets, the follow-ups, the late nights, the big vision, and the deep care for the kids and families we serve.

She has poured countless hours into bringing this vision to life, often behind the scenes, always with integrity, compassion, and a fierce commitment to making sure no child feels alone in their grief.

Kate and I had a blast representing Amazing Kids Foundation at the Whistler Chamber Excellence Awards — our third year attending and by far our funnest yet!

We loved the Photo Booth (clearly 😄), the “shushers” bringing comedy to crowd control, and the creative networking game that got everyone connecting.

Huge congrats to all the winners and nominees — especially Rebecca Mason, your award was so deserved, and Ashlie Girvan, Citizen of the Year — about damn time! 👏

A special shoutout to Ace for setting the vibe with her mad DJ skills, and Ira and Rebecca for keeping us all laughing as hosts.

We’ll be reaching out soon to help with the TELUS Winter Classic — can’t wait to collaborate again!
