June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.
As we reflect on the past and present, we also look toward a future built on respect, understanding, and meaningful relationships. We encourage our community to take time this month to learn, listen, and honour the stories, knowledge, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples.
Together, we can continue the journey of reconciliation through awareness, education, and action.
We’re honoured to share that the Wetaskiwin Salvation Army Thrift Store has been able to donate a ribbon shirt and two ribbon skirts to the Wetaskiwin Urban Indigenous Advisory Board.
The Wetaskiwin Urban Indigenous Advisory Board seeks to increase representation and programming for Indigenous community members and will be redistributing these items within the community.
Part of our mission is to meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world, and this is just one way we’re doing that. ❤️
