On March 10th we had our first Quarterly meeting of the year. Our first guest speaker was Trina who shared information about Lifeline, a program offering easy-to-use safety devices that connect individuals directly to emergency support. With features like automatic fall detection and wearable options safe for daily use, Lifeline helps people stay safe and independent at home. The program is covered through AISH and the Seniors Benefit and is available locally through FCSS.
Second we had Destine and Savannah shared highlights from the Canadian Mental Health Association, including the Brain Injury Program, which supports individuals in regaining independence, and Amethyst House, offering housing support and life-skills programming. They also showcased the Recovery College, which provides a variety of in person and online courses focused on mental health, connection, and personal growth.
To wrap up our meeting we had Amy Gilbert from AMN Wealth Management shared information about Registered Disability Savings Plans (RDSPs), a long-term savings option for individuals with disabilities. With government grants matching contributions up to 3:1 and bonds of up to $1,000 annually even without personal contributions RDSPs are a valuable tool for building financial security for the future.
Our next Quarterly meeting is June 9th we hope to see you all there.
