Gateway Research Organization is a not for profit applied agricultural research association. We conduct small plot research on all things agriculture related, including but not limited to annual crop varieties, perennial forage varieties, plant response to fertilizers or other products. We do demonstrations to showcase management practices, various crop species or different equipment that is avail

able to producers. We host extension opportunities to relay information to producers, these include workshops, seminars and field days. We take the risks by trying and testing products, crops, and practices so that producers have more knowledge to invest in what works locally

We enjoyed a couple of hours of very interesting conversations with Dr. Bart Lardner, host Byron Long, and other area producers last night.....corn production, intercropping, ruminant nutrition, water testing, silage, grazing, backgrounding, feedlots, heifers, bulls, feed efficiency, cost, etc. Ultimately, feeding the rumen microflora the most healthy, consistent, balanced diet we can, so that they can feed our animals well, helps fulfill the goal of efficient production and higher returns.

GRO and Farming Forward bring you an afternoon of local corn research, practical silage demonstrations, and producer discussion. Tour GRO's corn variety trial, visit a local producer, and finish the day at Farming Forward's Silage Systems demonstration. After dinner, Dr. Bart Lardner and producer Byron Long will lead a walk-and-talk through the project, comparing five silage systems and discussing forage quality, feed value, supplementation, and winter feeding strategies.
