2023/2024 (current):
Sadly, Grif went to meet Jesus in August 2023, and we lost our other senior gal Lady in January 2023. We still have 10yo Finn and a new addition Goose and are awaiting the arrival of Hoby (pulled from Downey on December 19th as "Jax"). We have just started rescuing again after a few years laying dormant (I had twins in 2019 and another baby in 2021). Please watch and cheer us

on as we continue to rebuild our network of fosters and donors!

2018:
We started a rescue in Grif's honor! March 2017:
Just over 4 years ago my first Brussels Griffon "Grif" and my sister's Pekingese/French Bulldog cross "JJ" were stolen from us. They were both rescues that we had rescued 3 years prior. They were our babies. We offered a large reward and pushed their pictures all over social media, but we didn't get anywhere....a few leads but they all went nowhere. At 5am yesterday I woke up to 3 messages on my phone. A few people had sent me the same picture. A picture of a 10 year old spayed female Brussels Griffon who had been turned in at Edmonton Animal Care and Control. I think my heart stopped beating at that moment. I couldn't even speak through my sobbing, so I just handed my husband my phone. He had never met Grif, because she was stolen 2 years before we got married, but he recognized her right away. The 3.5 hour wait for ACCC to open was the longest wait of my life. I finally went inside, and they told me there had been a Brussels Griffon turned in the day before, but that she was in very bad shape. They were hesitant to let me see her because of her condition, but through my tears I managed to tell them I had lost her 4 years ago and was not responsible for her injuries. Before they took me to the back to see her they told me what happened. Grif had been turned in with an elastic band wrapped around her head and neck. It had been on so long that her ear was severed about 2/3 of the way off, and her head and neck were lacerated quite badly. I could hardly control myself. I was a mess. Was it my Grif? Was she ok? How long had she been like this? My mind was racing. I got to the back and peered through the cage door and immediately knew it was not Grif. But then I said her name and she turned to face me, and indeed it WAS Grif! They brought me closer to touch her through the cage, but she didn't seem to recognize me. Her cataracts had gotten worse, she seemed to be part deaf, and she was all doped up on pain meds. I was heart broken. After a few hours I had all the paperwork in place to take her home (her medical and dental records to prove her identity, the police report from 2013, and one of the vet techs from her spay even came to the location to identify her and confirm my story - amazing!). After about 5 minutes in the car Grif realized exactly who I was and tried desperately to climb over the centre console to sit on my lap! We went to the vet where she was treated for a brutal infection. Her bloodwork came back ok aside from anemia. She's malnourished and emaciated but she's going to be ok! They'll do her blood work again next week and if she's healthy enough, she will have reconstructive surgery to reattach her ear. Welcome home Grif. Grif and her 2 Griffon siblings are getting along just fine and she is in great spirits My heart is exploding with love and thankfulness today. This was an answer to prayer. God is so good. Delay is not denial, so whatever you're praying for, please keep praying and don't give up. If my miracle can happen, so can yours! The next thing we need to pray for is the return of JJ. We desperately need your help! My sister's dog and Grif's best friend who was stolen with Grif back in 2013, is still missing. We are prepared to offer a $10,000 reward for her return. She is the black dog in the photos below. We are raising funds for Grif's reconstructive surgery and medication, JJ's reward and a nice big donation to GEARS - Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society. Any donations over and above our goal will also be donated to GEARS. If you have any information about JJ, please contact us. We will gladly take her back - no questions asked! If you have info, please contact us right away. JJ can be dropped off at Charwick Hill Animal Hospital, or Edmonton Animal Care and Control

Thank you! The back story from 2013:
Please help us bring Grif and JJ home safe! We are offering $5000 to the person who returns them to us. Initially, they were assumed to be lost, but we now have a witness who saw them being picked up and taken by a Yellow Cab van cab driver. If you are that driver and you have them, we know they're cute and you might want to keep them, but please turn them in to us! If this is the case, thank you for keeping them safe, and we look forward to their return. We miss them very much and are devastated and heart broken over their disappearance. If anyone has any information on their whereabouts, please contact us. We are worried that they are alone, cold and hungry and wondering where we are! We can be reached at 780-221-0965 or 780-222-8521. Thank you in advance - we are hopeful that we will get them back safe and sound. Please note that the police have been contacted and an investigation is underway. If the dogs are surrendered, we are willing to pay the reward and not lay charges, so please return them as soon as possible.
