Reminder for Friday's meeting!

We're getting ready for our meeting at Albert McCormick Community Centre this Friday, November 28th. Martina Reckl will demonstrate how to create a holiday urn using all her professional tips and tricks. After the presentation, the first ticket drawn in our door prize draw will take home the beautiful creation. You could be the lucky winner! We invite you to stay for some social time and enjoy refreshments with your fellow gardeners. Please bring your own mug for coffee or tea. If you are tidying the shed or garden, or getting out your holiday decor, keep us in mind. We gratefully accept donations of gently used holiday decor, garden, and household items for the door prize draw. The doors are open at 7:00 pm so come grab a seat and have a great evening. Everyone is welcome!

Sadly, some peony cultivar’s leaves succumb to powdery mildew or just dry up, but others put on a show. Here is a selection of my favourites from a stroll around the garden.

Burning bush (euonymus alatus), oak leaf hydrangea, hostas and Solomon’s seal are good examples.
Virginia creeper is a native vine, hardy and adaptable with bright red autumn foliage and colourful blue berries.

Summer may be over but there are still some blooms in the garden. Perennial chrysanthemums attract bees, and annual marigolds and blue salvia add bright bursts of colour. One annual poppy sends a brave and belated flower bud. Will it escape the frost and flower in a last celebration of the season?

Our members enjoyed a great bus trip on October 4th to the McMichael Gallery, Spirit Tree Estate Cidery and Allison’s Farm market. There was a stop for lunch at Symposium Cafe in Bolton. The weather was gorgeous and the Halton Hills were stunning!

Come along to this great event. We’re partnering with the Waterloo Library. Lots of fun and great information!
