Spring in Canada is hitting different right now! ๐Ÿ˜ Blue skies, fluffy clouds, fresh green leaves, and that crisp, perfect breeze.
On May 30th, the town of Stratford wrapped up Asian Heritage Month with a closing ceremony at Upper Queenโ€™s Park, and the WCCA was invited to perform!
Our Dragon Dance, Waist Drum, and Big Drum teams completely brought the energy. The vibrant red dragon looked amazing weaving through the park to the music, bringing those classic festive vibes, while the powerful beats of the big drums kept the momentum going. Plus, the waist drum team looked stunning in their bright green outfits with red drums and colorful ribbons, dancing perfectly to the upbeat rhythm. ๐Ÿ’ƒโœจ
The Stratford Asian Heritage Month is a free community event organized by local Chinese, Indian, and Filipino communities. It was such a great day filled with cultural showcases, art displays, live performances, and (of course) amazing food! ๐ŸฅŸ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

๐ŸŒŸ WCCA Health Seminar: Empowering Our Seniors

The WCCA was proud to host a vital health guidance lecture focused on dementia prevention and management. We were incredibly fortunate to have Dr. Qi Wang, Chair of the WCCA Health Committee, lead this session.

As a prominent family doctor in the Waterloo region, Dr. Wang is well-known for his clinical expertise and his ability to communicate fluently in both Mandarin and English. This bilingual approach ensured that all our seniors could fully engage with the material.

Seminar Highlights:
โœ… Prevention & Care: A comprehensive guide to maintaining cognitive health.
โœ… Myth-Busting: Dr. Wang addressed common misconceptions and corrected improper practices in dementia care.
โœ… Community Impact: Our elders walked away with increased awareness and practical tools for daily living.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Wang. Despite his demanding medical practice, he generously volunteered his spare time to support our community. His patience in answering every question has immensely benefited our seniors.

Letโ€™s continue to prioritize good health and strong social connections!

We had a blast at the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival today.

The WCCA Golden Dragon Team, our cheer squad, and volunteers headed to the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival to celebrate our 10th Anniversary in the pancake flipping contest! The weather was perfect, and team spirit was at an all-time high.

We were also so thrilled to see the young team from Cameron Heights participate for the first time! They brought so much energy and fun to the contestโ€”the future of flipping is bright!

A big congrats to this year's champions, Flip Physio! , It was a wonderful day of connecting with the community, sharing laughs, and tasting every delicious treat on the street .Shout out to the organizers for another year of community connection and laughter. Our hearts (and stomachs) are full after all that amazing street food!

This year marks a very special milestone: itโ€™s WCCAโ€™s 10th anniversary participating in this incredible event!

Our journey began in 2016 when we first stepped onto the field for the famous Elmira Maple Syrup Festival Pancake Flipping Contest. It was a massive step in bringing our association closer to the local community, and we are so grateful to the organizers for welcoming us with open arms from day one.
Over the past decade (with a short break during the pandemic), WCCA has been represented by so many amazing teamsโ€”from our Board of Directors and Sponsors to our Youth and "Angels in White" teams. And of course, we canโ€™t forget our legendary volunteer cheering squads who bring the energy every single year! ๐Ÿ“ฃโœจ

Beyond the thrill of our many championship wins, what we cherish most is the spirit of inclusion and acceptance within the Canadian community. This positive energy inspires us to keep giving back to the land we call home. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Come out and celebrate with us!
Join us for all the fun on Saturday, April 11th. We can't wait to see you there! ๐Ÿฅž๐Ÿ™Œ
