The purpose of this club is to provide experienced players with an organized, competitive level of play, while providing new players with a fun environment in which to learn euchre. We have weekly meetings where you can meet new people, socialize, and enjoy the great game of Euchre. There is a $5 membership fee for joining the UW Euchre Club for a term. This fee covers weekly snacks as well as pri
zes for two tournaments held each term. There is no obligation to attend each meeting, but the $5 fee is required to participate in the tournaments. FAQs:
Do I have to pay membership my first time out? Beginners/new members don't have to pay their fees their first week (unless it is a tournament day). How many tournaments are there? We have two tournaments per term usually around the end of the second month of the term and the end of term. Do I have to stay the entire time? You can stop in anytime between 7 and 10pm and stay as long as you like. You can drop in to watch a game, play a game, or stay all night and play a bunch of games! It is entirely up to you! Do I have to know how to play Euchre? If you are unsure of how to play euchre, or even how to pronounce it, you are more than welcome to come out and learn a card game of wits, strategy, and luck. We have some awesome people who are willing to teach you how to play, the terminology, and some strategy as well! How competitive is this club? We mostly play for fun, although we do keep track of scores - the highest average gets a prize at the end of the term! Tournaments can get a little competitive, but we are all basically here to have some fun, make some friends, and relieve some stress. If you were a bird, what bird would you be? Strange question isn't it? It is frequently asked at our club though. We have yet to come up with a definite answer, but our club would probably be parrot. Talkative, medium sized, and very friendly (although I wouldn't recommend putting your hand in their mouth).
