For the last six years SVP Waterloo Region has been working to increase the capacity of local charities. We know that giving money is not enough. With our model of engaged philanthropy, our
Partners pool their financial resources, time and expertise to the charities we serve, doubling the impact of the dollars granted. Each year we put a call-out for applications from Waterloo Region charities and select one with which we would like to partner. We pledge up to three years of unrestricted funding and offer our Partners’ knowledge in business, IT, human resources, marketing and more, to help that charity become more sustainable and ultimately help them be more impactful to the community they serve. In return, we offer our Partners key insights into some of the most pressing needs facing our community and the organizations that serve them. Our SVP Teens program encourages young leaders to make a difference in their community. The goal of the program is to expose young people (ages 13-19) to philanthropy at an early age and instill a lifelong desire to give back. The program provides insight into social issues facing our community, team development through fundraising efforts, grant making processes, and volunteer projects.
