UWNA has requested a meeting with Derek Brick, Manager of Forestry, Horticulture and Cemetery, to discuss the long-awaited Urban Forest Strategy.

With our aging tree canopy in Uptown, this is an important opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and provide feedback on the draft strategy before it goes to Council later this fall.

Registration is now open for Uptown Voices' fall season! We are a community of folks who love to sing for joy and connection, not perfection. No auditions, no need to read music, no performances, no previous musical experience required.

We're excited to introduce our amazing new song leader, Treasa Levasseur (), who is an experienced song leader and musician, bursting with creativity and new ideas. Treasa will lead us in songs from many musical traditions, focusing on songs that are easy to learn and sing. We are thrilled that our beloved and talented collaborative pianist, Tony Domzella, will be back again this fall.

When: Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30pm, from September 16 - December 2
Where: Church of the Holy Saviour, 33 Allen Street East, Waterloo. The upper parish hall is a beautiful open space and fully accessible.
How much: $125 for 12 sessions

Reminder of our neighborhood’s little free pantries located at 110 John Street W (corner of John and Avondale) and 88 Avondale S (Between William and Alexandra). Anyone in need can take from it, and if anyone is feeling like they have extra food please don’t hesitate to drop it in the pantry. You could also add a couple of items to your grocery list each week to help others out. Every bit counts!

Lets support neighbours who are struggling with food during these tough financial times.

Please only share food/toiletries in sealed containers, that is shelf stable and has not reached it’s best before date. See the suggestion list from 519 Community Collective for ideas.

The Uptown West Neighbourhood Association is excited to launch a FREE drop-in sports program this summer!

Thanks to funding from the City of Waterloo's Neighbourhood Grant, we've secured field permits and sports equipment so families can come together, get active, and have fun in the neighbourhood.

When: Fridays, 6:30–8:00 p.m.
Where: Empire Public School field
Starting: July 10

This program is open to all school-aged children (ages 4+). For insurance and safety purposes, all children must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

We'll kick things off with a mix of organized activities and free play, then adapt the program based on attendance and participants' interests throughout the summer.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We're looking for additional adult volunteers who can help on a rotating basis by:
* Bringing program supplies (provided by us)
* Supporting activities and helping sessions run smoothly

We're also seeking high school volunteers interested in developing leadership skills and helping organize games and activities. Thanks to the Neighbourhood Grant, we can offer youth volunteers in this leadership role a stipend.

Several people in the neighbourhood play with the Waterloo Concert Band, and they are hosting the 2nd annual Community BandFest tomorrow in Waterloo Park. Family-friendly! Come for the day, or just wander through. Details attached, and at waterlooband.com.

They are playing several other times at the Park, and also at Waterloo Public Square, over the summer.
