Volunteer as an individual, corporate team or as part of a group and help ensure that every child who needs a mentor will have a mentor.

As Canada's leading child and youth mentoring charity, Big Brothers Big Sisters facilitates life-changing relationships that inspire and empower children and youth to reach their potential, both as individuals and citizens. Serving as role models, our mentors teach by example the importance of giving and giving back, of staying in school, and of having respect for family, peers and community. Each time we pair a child with a mentor or introduce a group of students to an in-school program, we start something incredible – a life-changing relationship built on friendship, trust and empowerment.

🍂 Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Our office will be closed on Monday, October 12, for Thanksgiving and will reopen on Tuesday, October 13.

As we head into the long weekend, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank our wonderful volunteers. Your time, care, and commitment make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and youth in our community, and we’re so grateful for all that you do!

We also recognize that Thanksgiving holds different meanings for different people and communities. However you choose to spend the long weekend, we hope you find a little time for connection, reflection, and rest.

September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today, we remember the children who never returned home and honour Survivors, their families, and communities.

Reconciliation begins with the courage to listen, the humility to acknowledge past and ongoing harms, and an unwavering commitment to truth while confronting denialism in all its forms.

Today, we commit to listening, learning, remembering, and carrying that responsibility forward—not only today, but every day.

💙 This BBBS Month, we’re celebrating the people who show up for young people.

We’re looking for caring community members to join us as mentors for our school-based programs!

💜 Go Girls – help girls build confidence, develop healthy relationships and discover their strengths.

🎮 Game On – help boys explore healthy choices, build positive relationships and develop confidence.

🏫 In-School Mentoring – become a positive role model and support a young person through a meaningful mentoring relationship.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just need to show up, listen and be there.
