Our final Yard of the Week 2024 goes to Peggy and Gary Fontaine of 340 Riddell Street.
Arriving at the dead end of this urban street gives that wonderful feeling of coming home in the country. The home style porch with Adirondack chairs, a swing, an oak barrel, milk cans, old style watering cans and planters of colourful flowers give so much charm to this lovely home. A wildflower garden graces the border and a peak at a fieldstone edged pathway is visible at the back. This is a beautiful space.

Masses of impatiens add stunning colour and a massive geranium graces their driveway at 67 Broughton Bay. Yes, folks that geranium is only one plant, 15 years old, that Jackie over winters. Planters, including small pots of petunias and interesting ornaments accent this lovely yard. Well done!

Our first ever Communities in Bloom Judge's visit was very successful. Judges Hugh Skinner and Wilbert Ronald were treated to views of the many beautiful plantings and yards throughout the LUD. They toured through Lions Park where Hugh determined our community icon Cottonwood tree is greater than 100 years old! We suppose thats why no one can remember when it was planted!

Thanks to WITC volunteers Lana Cowling-Mason and Charlie Amy for sharing the history of the Warren Pool Elevator. Thank you to Chris Freisen for a close up of his family's native prairie plantings and thank you to all the community members who helped to prepare the town for the judging.

We will get our bloom rating and a comprehensive evaluation at the Communities in Bloom annual conference in October and look forward to sharing it with you all!

Week 6 Yard of the week goes to Jennifer and Richard Steinbeisser of 27 Broughton Bay.

Congratulations on a beautiful yard with interesting combinations of begonias with ivy and a cascade of Creeping Jenny. Tubs of petunias, impatiens with coleus and bird baths all thoughtfully placed. So much to see as you peek around the corners of the central granite garden.

Counting down folks with just 2 more yards for 2024. Get your nominations in by Messenger to Warren Communities in Bloom. Thank you to everyone who has sent in their picks, please remember, the nominee must be within LUD limits, and cannot have received the honour last year. Happy Long Weekend.

Feast your eyes on a literal floral forest at 316 Collegiate.

Congratulations to Pam and Kevin Penny. Their yard graces 60 varieties of Day Lilies. A photographer’s dream with models including such specimens as Chocolate Event, Giggle Creek and Smuggler’sGold, just to name a few. But more than Day Lilies on display here. Don’t miss this one folks.

Just 3 more weeks to nominate your favourites by Messenger to Warren Communities in Bloom.

Enthusiasm is blooming over our very first upcoming visit from the Community's in Bloom judges. Our judges will be Hugh Skinner and Wilber Ronald. They will be touring the LUD, on Thursday, August 1st. We have a full day planned with an itinerary that includes local restaurants, beautiful green spaces and some great historical landmarks to share with them. We also cannot wait to bring them by our beautiful Yard of the Week recipients from the last 2 years.

The Communities in Bloom judges visit the community and use a competitive evaluation process to evaluate our town with an emphasis fostering community strength, involvement, and continuous improvement. The results from the 2024 judging will be shared with our committee at an upcoming event and help us to work toward next years judges visit.

Businesses and residents can help us prepare for the town visit by tidying up your properties and community spaces prior to their arrival. The Warren Communities In Bloom Committee thanks you in advance for keeping our little Manitoba town tidy and beautiful! We really appreciate your efforts and cannot wait to share the results with you all.
