Wanham Plowing Match

Wanham Plowing Match Celebrating 53 years! - June 19-21, 2026 The concept may seem simple, have your horse team pull the largest load, or plow the straightest line.

Original vision of the plowing match was to preserve the art and skill of competitive plowing/pulling and to pay tribute to the way things were done in the past. These farm related tasks (that were once skills that were indispensable to generations of pre-industrial farmers) inspired and created competitions as a way for the working farm hands to demonstrate their skills. But as anyone that has co

mpeted will tell you, it takes a huge amount of dedication, training and skill to complete these tasks.

Most school days when the bus from Rycroft comes in, The hall can be open from 3:45-4:15 for viewing if Larissa is there.

They take about 3-4 weeks to become butterflies and when they are ready we will release them
