2020 will be the tenth year for the Vikings in the Streets Festival in Viking, Alberta.

The Town of Viking has a diverse population of residents and a lot of young families have been returning to the area The goal of the Festival each year is to provide fun, family oriented activities to all age groups. y to fund raise. The Festival began as an idea by some very creative and forward thinking residents of Viking. Starting up a summer festival was quite a task and it has grown each year, adding new events, and new volunteers to help run it.

Our Story

Background: 2019 will be the ninth year The Vikings in the Streets Festival has taken place in Viking, Alberta. Just east of Edmonton on Highway 14. Viking and the surrounding area is supported mainly by agriculture and the oil & gas sector. The Town of Viking has a diverse population of residents and a lot of young families have been returning to the area. The goal of the Festival each year is to provide fun, family-oriented activities to all age groups and to show our Viking brand to the world. The Festival began as an idea by some very creative and forward-thinking residents of Viking. Starting up a summer festival was quite a task and it has grown each year, adding new events, and new volunteers to help run it.

Friday Events

An annual chili cook-off is hosted by the Lions Club on Friday afternoon from 5:00 to 7:00. This year it will be at the Multiplex at the east side of town. There will be remote car races for the kids at 5:30, and a magic show at 6:00.

Following the chili cook-off, the Viking Golf Club will host a beer garden and music at the Multiplex.
