The Viking Health Foundation has purchased a new specialized footcare chair, now located at Vialta Lodge, helping expand access to professional footcare services for both Vialta Lodge residents and members of the broader community.
The chair will be used by Noreen with Footwise Nurse, a certified footcare nursing service providing assessments and treatment for a variety of foot health concerns, including nail care, callus reduction, and diabetic footcare.
This new equipment provides a safe, comfortable, and accessible space for clients to receive care while supporting high standards for treatment and infection prevention.
Foot health is an important part of overall wellness, particularly for older adults and individuals managing diabetes, circulation concerns, or mobility challenges. Access to regular footcare can help prevent complications and support independence.
This purchase reflects the Viking Health Foundation's ongoing commitment to enhancing local healthcare services and improving quality of life for area residents. By bringing this specialized equipment to Vialta Lodge, the Foundation is helping ensure that professional footcare services are available close to home for those who need them most.

It’s a brand new month with a brand new opportunity to Split the Pot - Alberta

The Town of Viking proclaims May 26-30, 2025
Alberta Rural Health Week

Take a moment this week to thank and acknowledge the community of health professionals we are lucky to have right here in our own community. The relationships they have made with each and every one of us on a personal and professional level does not go unnoticed.

Rural Health Week gives us all an opportunity to say “thank you”. During this week, we encourage residents to share their appreciation for the contributions of the rural health provides whose abilities enhance the quality of life in rural Alberta.

In 2021 Alberta Health Services partnered with the University of Calgary along with M.D of Wainwright to offer a pilot four year Bachelor of Nursing Degree program at the Wainwright Health Center.
The Viking Health Foundation recognized the importance of this training for the community and region and provided a donation to support the program. Four years later and it is graduation day. The program will continue for another four years.
