Thank you to the Urban Development Institute for hosting Habitat for Humanity Victoria at your golf tournament. It was a great day connecting with community leaders and sharing more about how Team Build Days bring people together in support of affordable homeownership.

A Team Build Day is more than time spent on site. It’s an opportunity to strengthen team connection, celebrate shared accomplishments, and make a direct impact right here in our community. Every organization that joins us helps move a future home, and a future homeowner, closer to the finish line.

Looking back to 1990, Habitat Victoria began with Critical Repairs, supporting essential upgrades for homes in our community long before any new builds took shape. That work laid the foundation for everything that followed.

Today, as housing pressures grow, we are returning to those roots and expanding Critical Repairs once again.

We are inviting the community to take part by volunteering, donating building materials, or sharing skilled services to help bring more Critical Repairs projects to life.

In April 2000, Habitat for Humanity Victoria welcomed a family through the doors of our very first home in the North Park neighbourhood.

Built through fundraising efforts, volunteers, and a community that believed affordable homeownership should be possible right here in Greater Victoria, this home marked the beginning of work that continues today.

Over the past 26 years, together with our community, we’ve built 38 affordable homes where families can build stability, put down roots, and create brighter futures.

For this homeowner in the Tillicum area of Greater Victoria, ongoing concerns about water and potential sewer backup had created significant stress for her and her family. Through Habitat for Humanity Victoria’s Critical Repairs Program, and with support from Rather Be Plumbing, a new perimeter drain and backflow valve were installed to help move water away from the home and reduce the risk of sewer backup and future flooding.

“The repair work done to our sewer line was very important to me and my family. This was a major concern for us and we’re so happy to have it resolved. Hopefully it will prevent any more flooding in the future.”

If you have the skills to help with essential home repairs, join us in supporting families in our community through our Critical Repairs Program. Your time and expertise can help prevent flooding, improve safety, and bring peace of mind to homeowners. Sign up today: linktr.ee/habitatvictoria
